List of Viewty Software - Extended
You may have seen my old post here with a large list of tested and working software for the LG Viewty. It was a great success, however over time the links broke and software become outdated. This is now a new list of software for the LG Viewty, all fully tested and working. The versions have also been updated so they are the newest.

- Mobipocket eBook Reader - Allows you to read eBooks on the Viewty. To install unzip the files and transfer them to the phone - Download
Important: Once you have downloaded a file/application it may be named “something.zip” (ending in .zip). If this is the case, you must rename it so that it ends in .jar or it will not work.
To install/run these applications connect your Viewty to a computer, download these files and then transfer them onto the Viewty. Then on the Viewty find the files and run them. This will go through the install or if the application is very simple then it will just run.
All software works on the Viewty and all links work at time of posting. Please post any problems as comments here. Also post a comment if you want me to get some new software.

All the files listed are fixed. I have put them all onto my server, which means they will never get broken again.
I cant get jzipman to run on my veiwty. Anybody had it run?
I have it running now, what error do you get?
Also, what is your firmware version (Go to Menu >> Settings >> Phone Settings >> Handset Information, your firmware version is your “s/w version”)

matt: Mobichat has been fixed, the files have been moved to my server so they wont break again.
Terry Sor: No, but I can take a look for you. It may be easier to convert the files from flv to avi on your pc so you can play them.

CHAPITEN, thanks for the comment. The Doc Reader app is able to read word documents and pdfs etc. however I don’t know of any apps that can open excel files. I will take a look.

thanks calum the link works but when i try and put it on the phone it wont go into any folder? any ideas how i get it on my phone [ive connected the phone via the usb cable but it wont go into any folder]
matt, does your phone have a MicroSD card? If it does, then you can plug it into your PC using USB and then go to My Computer. It should be there as a USB drive.
Go into the USB drive and drag or paste the file into the “Games & Applications” folder.
no i dont have an SD card just the built in memory and when i try and put the programe into the folders it doesnt let me
To run applications you need to have a MicroSD card. You may be able to get it working without one though.

When im extracting most of the files (like mobichat, vibe)im getting like 30+ files with names like a-class, b-class and so on. should i just copy all those files to my viewty to make it work?

Refyn: Yes, you should move over all the files (they are Java files) and then run the main .jar file.

Just upload that to your phone and you can run that.

Only if it is a .zip file.
Mobichat is just a java .jar file, just move that onto your phone and it will work.

However, I don’t see any file the the xtension of jar, and “some” of them don’t even have a .swf, say “STOPWATCH”…
Any other ideas?

michelle, you should look in all the folders. They will only appear in the games & apps folder once they are installed. To get to them go to Menu >> My Stuff >> My Memory Card
They should be in the folder that you put them in to, in that section.
James, what problems do you get? All I can give is the instructions, unless I know what the problem is.
endscape, Make sure they are named on your PC. I swf files should go in the flash folder.

Can you tell me the name of the software i need to get at the system files on my 990? all i need is a name so i can download it, im tearing forums apart looking for it. everyone talks about it, but doesnt name it! Im planning to delete the t9 added words file. stupid thing keeps putting stupid words in , Ho instead of in, ect

Robert, to copy normal apps to the phone you don’t need any software, you can just put them in the phone from “My Computer” in Windows. To modify system files you need a program called “efs media builder”, it is exactly what you are looking for.
Chloe, which app and what firmware version do you run?

hey I’m having a problem with mobichat… I installed it and everything, it does log in but instantly send a message that says:
“Welcome to MobiChat! sign in to your MSN, Yahoo or AIM to identify your new MobiPowered.com account. Sending messages will be locked until this process is complete.
This is a trial account available for a limited time. You can now log in to MSN, Yahoo & AIM.”
So as it says right there I cannot Send messages… what can I do?

i have tried and used several off the apps, an they work great. Butt with the Viewty Bulb it doesent shows on my phone, i have transfered it and all but i cant find it anywhere… and i see its on only 1 KB.. soe does it work?
Nikko that’s no app at all… it’s just a swf… a flash file with a blank background obviously to make the screen shine a lot like a lamp. I had the same problem… use the PC Suite and move the file to “Flash Content” folder on the phone then u will be able to open it navigating the phone.
Question - in order to use the MobiChat - do you have to be on line? Meaning, would I need to have the plan for unlimited web as well? Please advise. thanks!
so far i’ve tried the word doc reader . i get all the files onto the phone using LGs ‘contents’ program, i locate them in the other files folder (which is never where i place them) and every single file says format not supported. there is no jar file in that zip/rar. I havent tried any of the other programs yet, but looking in the rars i see they are the same format : *.class, *.fd, *.MF,
no jars anywhere, please help.

whoops, sorry, hold the phone, im an idiot. im opening the Jar file on the pc and copying the contents to the phone, thats where i’ve been going wrong. dahhh!

next problem, every time i start the TextReader app on the phone it closes again before i can use it! every time it crashes.
Am i doing something wrong?
ok, renamed the .zip on the end of fileexplorer.zip to a .jar and copied that to the phone, and it installed no worries, but it crashes as soon as i run the installed fileexplorer. i cant use it, i just loads up, then quits stright away. same as the textreader, do i need to change a setting on my phone somewhere>?
Jonn, you need to activate it, so you aren’t using the trial.
nikko, it is a flash app, you need to put it in the Flash folder to be able to run it.
Kitty, yes it has to access the internet. You will probably use your free allowance in about a minute, but it is very expensive and you will probably pay £1 every 1-2 minutes of use. I advise getting an unlimited web add on. I have the O2 Web Bolt and it works perfectly and I have no extra charges.
Robert, you should just copy the main jar to the viewty.
Robert, good to see you got it working. What firmware version do you have. Do this to find out:

I have the u990 but i git it wiped so i could unlock the handset now my bluetooth is invalid and the following prompt ppears when i try using bluettoth ”you need to set the bluetooth adress” as i got no manula ad its not obvious how this is done can you help??
Also i got no drivers fro the u990 cd with the handset ive downloaded them directly from LG’s downlaod function on LG but that doesnt work as the orrect imei and model and serial number its saying it doesnt recognise the model which ic correct from my phone.

Thank You Jimmy, thanks to the post above i finally figure out how to make the apps work!.
To many people who’re having problem.
For unknown reason, every Apps i downloaded is in .zip format.
You have to turn that zip into jar xtension.
What I do is OPEN up winrar or other xtractor program, and simply change the .zip xtention into .jar. Then simply copy the .jar file to one of the folder in your phone, I made a APPS file to make it simple and in category.

Michael- Often time people use mass storage divice to eaisly drag and drop file. To set up Mass Storage Device go to Phone >> Menu >> Last Tab >> Phone Setting >> Connectivity >> USB Connection… >> Mass Storage. - then once you plug the phone into your comp. it will how as 1 of the “Romovable Drive”.
PS. read all the post above, post of how to sync. phone >> computer is posted somewhere above.

NOT all the file, the zip, actually there’s a better way.
Click on the link above for the apps you want, and it will ask you where to save….example, let’s say you wanna download Doc Reader.
Click on the link for Doc Reader, it ask you to save, Choose save.
A small window pop-up and ask where to save. notic On that window, there is 2 line below, 1 for you to give it a name, altho it always have a default name, in this case, Doc Reader.
On the 2nd line, it will say “Save As Type”….in “MY” case it is Winrar ZIP archive, but your may be difference, ANYWAY, click on that 2nd line, and choose the bottom option >> “All files”. then go back to the 1st line where it say Doc Reader, add .jar to it.
Basictly the first line shoud look just like this >>> Doc Reader.jar
ANOTHER THING - right click on the link above and select properties to see what type of file it is, It will say “Winrar Archive” IF you are using WINRAR or Winzip, etc.
The step i show above ONLY work if the file type is EXECUTABLE JAR FILE!.
If it is not than that file is a flash app, which mean you must download UNZIP, and copy the file to your memory stick.

I downloaded the files i want and i hooked up my computer to my phone with the provided USB cord but it doesnt seem to recogize that my phones hooked up so i can transfer the files..

as it explain at the top post, it is very likely that you change the xtention of a Flash file, that was in the ZIP, if it is a FLASH file, than you need to xtract and copy to phone and NOT by changing the xtention to jar

Mobichat costs money to use the service after a while. Some use the internet which may cost money.
There are no viruses.
They won’t slow down your phone and they don’t even run unless you run them.

I have downloaded the .jar files in my Viewty, but when I open them, it seems to block the Viewty for a short time and nothing happens. I’ve tried with different files downloaded in my microSD but nothing to do.
What can I do please ?
I can’t set up driver, do you have any recommend?

Install PC Suite(the mini dics that came with the phone, small program easy to use for making phone book.
2nd - Connect your phone to computer(make sure its in DATA Mode Connectivity and NOT Mass Storage.
3rd - Connect your phone to your comp… A little box should pop up on the right of your status bar, saying unable to install, can’t find driver (or something like that)
If the 3rd step never occur, RIGHT click on your “MY COMPUTER” and choose Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Look for a Yellow “?” Icon, I “Think” Its in the “Modems” list.
Next RIGHT click on that yellow “?” Icon and choose UPDATE DRIVER.
A Window will pop up and ask to install DRIVER.
Choose YES > From Specific Location > Choose a Location > C:\Program Files\LG PC Suite 2\DRIVER\
And than click install, and you “MIGHT” have to do this 3 time, because when you’re done, its gonna ask you if you wanna stall driver again, 3 time.
ANYWAY, (laughing out loud) you can just pop in the CD and got to DRIVER and run the Driver SETUP.
hi guys, i went through all the discussions in this website hoping to find something that will correct the 2 flaws or deficiencies of viewty:
(1) is the difficulty in positioning the cursor when you want to go back and amend a word while composing a text message; and
(2) the fact that viewty is not wifi-ready.
Where it not for these 2 deficiencies, i’d be 100% happy with my viewty. Would any of you know whether new software or hardware developments correcting these things are now available? Would really appreciate leads in this regard. Thanks in advance, especially to Calum.

NOY - (1) - yea i know, I often use the tip of my fingernail to position the cursor, how to your question, I bet buy adding a command to the xml file somewhere withing your system file, you could have an icon with a back commman, however i’m not a programmer so i don’t know LOL, do check /www.ku990.co.uk/ MIGHT find some clue there.
(2) - getting it wifi- will propably be impossible, if i’m not mistaken that’s hardware issue.

Great that u have listed all the software running on the viewty! i have the viewty since 2 days and tryed to get the software on the viewty with the lg software but it doesent work (done it like you explained it) can it be that i musst have a micro sd card first? and can it be a problem that i have a german firmeware? Werner - firmware usual improve functionability, little twick here and there, I doubt it is preventing you from running apps…
However - The LG suite only allow you to backup, internet setup, photo, music, phone book, and movie(if i’m not mistaken).. which of course mean you can’t choose a location to save, as well as copying say, copying an APPs file to MUSIC folder..(btw I don’t really use the sute…
So basicly, I believe that you either have to get a micro sd, or using EFS and write the apps, to the system folder…
does any body know if there is a 2d barcode reader

Camo - you have the right idea, Basicly create a folder call APPs on the root memory of you sd micro.
And toss all em apps in there.
Then go to you phone >> Menu >> 2nd Tab >> Memory Card >> Apps >> and there you go, a listed of all your apps….

i cant seem to get the password lock working..
ive got it all installed with password entering and once i try and confirm password, the ok button doesnt seem to work, then whn i try to lock my files it doesnt ask me for any password even when ive tried applying the lock to mesgs etc.
Vinit, you may want to re-install that apps, mine work great.
Locate the .jar on your phone and choose to install >> The window will than ask you to give it a password, there will be 2 word bank, to type in your password and confirm it(touch the word band) to bring up keyboard.
Next it will as if you would allow it to access your phone data, of course YES..
Then you will have a “Window Explorer” type setup, ion know how to exlain that LOL, choose 1 of the folder say “music” it will bring up a list of music, sadly you can ONLY HIDE 1 THING AT A TIME….
Select multiple pics/music/video to hide
Game hideable(I’ve got some naughty game, and i wanna keep it to myself)

Pete - When you unzip it what does it contain in the foler? if it contain a bunch of cr*p, than its a .jar file, which mean when you download it, you wanna name it as Name: “Sat Nav.jar” and Application: “All ….”
And put it in mso:/Apps/….
create an Apps folder at the root your Memory Stick.
Than Phone > Menu > My Stuff > Apps > Sat Nav.jar
Jamie - The Light is but a White pieces of paper, doesn’t do any special effect, just a white pieces of paper.swf(Flash).
As for the other file, I “think” its a jar but you extract it, Follor Guide Above

When the viewty asks to install it also asks to download. If i agree, will that cost me for internet usage or what?
ok ok just place ALL files in the (others) folder make sure you change any files to .jar if they are .zips first ok!!!
i have hundreds of games & apps installed on my viewty now all working great. got a 2gb micro sd. but you gotta dump them in (others)first. when u install them they will automatically be placed to games.

dump all your games/apps in the (others) folder then go & find them & install them from there. they will automatically be placed in games & apps after you install them.

just right-click on the file go to rename and delete .zip add .jar.

If I’m Not Mistaken, the Apps you downloaded is supposently a Flash file, contain in a .zip, which need to be extract, and copy to the Flash Folder in your Phone, but instead you change that .zip file into a .jar, which won’t work.
I can put the downloaded file in the phone SD card but it can not run
the files name have .jar at the end but the image look like the same as winrar file
those files can’t be seen at all when using the phone
when I use LG PC Suite, I can see the file but it keep saying that the files type have error and can’t open it
I am sure that the files have .jar at the end

the easiest way to download to the viewty is bluetooth, get a bluetooth dongle for your pc/laptop. the lg pc suite is abit of a pain sometimes.

I am using a mac so never installed the viewty software, and transfer files using the bluetooth app on my mac, which is great for getting things onto the phone but not off…Can anyone help?

Hello, I am having a little trouble here, you see I have the LG PC Suite installed, I don’t have the USB chord so I connect via Bluetooth. Thing is I do not have a micro sd card either, I am still trying to find a way to access the phones file structure so i can copy apps/games etc over, anyone here help me out? I know you cannot copy the files over via pc suite because it gives the phones default file structure which is Documents, FlashContents, images and sounds. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Filelock doesn’t seem to be secure as it said to be. It just rename the file with extension .lck. When I send it to pc and rename to original file extension then it can be visible so its just a fake software fooling all of us. But its secure within phone. If you don’t believe me, try sending one image locked by filelock to your pc and try renaming it.

lightbulb is a flash, u download and extract so dont change it to jar since it wont have the manifest file require for java app to run.
-if it is a jar file to begin with, open it up using eclipse and see if the manifest is in there
that one lg suite program will not work on vista; exe file must be set to xp sp2 before installing
-i have vista so im screw with program, but im using a micro sd with a usb adapter -> transfer file into usb/sd card then i plug my sd into my phone = working

I opened the contents manager of the viewty PC software and then I tried to copy the .jar files to one of the files but an error comes up and says ” cannot transfer .jar files to viewty ” . Downloaded JAR files transferred vis usb cable in mass storage mode to memory card found them in the others file,the come up as the file Jar with a piece of paper and a green cross on them.
clicked launch,click download, then it says launch or continue browsing
Click launch
It puts the game in my game folder then on viewty
click on the file it fires to the black screen with the buttons on the bottom ready to play
then shuts down and goes back to normal screen.does this with every jar file i have.
would you know the solution please

But I just can’t get it to work… Ive downloaded the Bemused server and have it running. And the phone does connect to my PC, because I hear a connection sound when I start JAM SE, but it just doesnt do anything from then on…

For James, you can send the files through bluetooth, they normally arrive in My Stuff > Others folder, so then you can move it to which ever folder you want.
For philip h, for the paint application, you’ll have to unzip it on your PC first, then transfer the .swf file onto your phone.

I’ve seen video’s of ViewtyBulb, Stopwatch and Paint apps, so you can get them. Wheather the files from here are correct I don’t know. Hi, I have successfully installed the following : TouchGuitar, TouchPiano, TouchDrummer, TouchTracker to my new viewty. I am desperately trying to get paint on it, but whatever I do it saysManifest is invalid or content file corrupt. I know it’s not corrupt because ive tried it from different sites and it still says it. I am using EFS media builder, ive tried putting one named .jar and it didn’t work, one named .jad and that didnt work, and one .zip and I couldn’t launch it. How do I get it to work?
